Why now?

Well, it's about time isn't it? Optical computing has been around for ages, but only now is the need for it felt urgently, especially with the end of Moore's law looming on the horizon.  


Isn't this still academic?

Mostly no, although it depends on the type of optical processor one is developing. There are a lot of ways to use light to perform computations. Some of them are well known in the field as ideas that work and are ripe for industrialization. Our optical processors use one such idea. Curious and want to know more?
